sweet potato leaves 20190513

have heard of this green leafy veg for long...
never tasted it b4
this first try go for some organic ones
though not so fresh
experience was not so good

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
sweet potato leaves, organic
produce of china
@20190513
@aeon
*organic
this is the pack of sweet potato leaves
labeling indicate the product origin

 they are damp n wilted...
not much experience with green leafy veg but juz know that they are not fresh...
after picking away those black wilted leaves only half bag is left...
omg... wasted these organic goodness...

putting them into hot water...
boiling these veg for a minute...
counted only from the time after water is bubbling...

most of the veg became too yellow...
juz shouldn't in hot water bath for too long...
but thinking it's safer to cook it long enough...
coz it's a bit rotten...

some are put into water for too long that they become yellow n extremely tough n fibrous...
or maybe that's bcuz they are wilted n rotten?

most of them leaf part is still soft n delicate
while the stem part might be a bit fibrous n stringy...

a yellow piece n a green piece in comparison...
yellow one is tougher
green one is more tender
likely to be the difference in order putting in
though noted that both of them got soft n tender leaf part...

this yellow piece not looking like a young n fresh leaf...
n expect it to be tough textured
yet it still ok soft n tender...
though the taste is not good as greener ones...

a really yellow piece vs a bright green piece
greener one is absolutely more soft n tender...
taste much fresh n less 澀口
therefore think that the colour may not juz abt time...
brown n yellow ones are likely to be wilted n rotten, n maybe unsafe to eat...

as I have these leaves with my noodles...
the acidic taste of veg kinda affect my noodles in the same pot...

 last three stems left...
they are all quite yellow...
afterall bathing in hot water for so long already...

more are wasted...
these are pieces skipped after cooking...
...
already got half bag chosen out prior cooking...
plus the junked after cooking...
juz had 0.25 bag maybe...

will not be having them again in a while...
1st it's time consuming washing n picking
2nd the aftertaste is a bit acidic kinda drives me away
its not worth to spend that much time n effort to prepare some not-so-good stuff...

melon (galia melon)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- galia melon @20190404 three melons all got rotten spots...  sign of rot on the stem end...  and at the bottom... the blackened part has become soft and spongy...  opening look... out of my expectation... thought galia melon is with green flesh, as suggested on the web...   seeds removed... no rotting inside the flesh... that was not juicy when cut...   the seeds inside are sweet... but are scary to me coz my mouth would react badly, burning n bleeding... some kind of melon allergy...  spongy flesh towards the one end...  next the second melon...   the second one is paler... and the bottom end got serious moldy rot...  the spongy flesh towards one end...  cut out showing how deep it was infected... some of the flesh become translucent... n that rotting smell is obvious...  the rotten sp...
