galia melon

three melons all got rotten spots...

sign of rot on the stem end...

and at the bottom... the blackened part has become soft and spongy...

opening look... out of my expectation... thought galia melon is with green flesh, as suggested on the web...

seeds removed... no rotting inside the flesh...
that was not juicy when cut...

the seeds inside are sweet... but are scary to me coz my mouth would react badly, burning n bleeding... some kind of melon allergy...

spongy flesh towards the one end...

next the second melon...
the second one is paler... and the bottom end got serious moldy rot...

the spongy flesh towards one end...

cut out showing how deep it was infected... some of the flesh become translucent... n that rotting smell is obvious...

the rotten spongy part would be easily removed... juz like the case as in mangoes...

then the third melon...
on the top of the pic, showed a blackened rot with a hole...

cut open looks quite dry... especially the seed part...

the green part is thick on the one...

that rotting is very black but not subtle like the other two melons...

a cut on the rot showing how deep it grows

the stem end likely gone moldy black...

noticed a clear tri-colour separation of the flesh... but the photos can't show clearly...

these melons are not any sweeter than the other cantaloupe melons I ve had...
the flesh are soft and are less crunchy than that I used to have...
the second one is the most sweet and juicy one... I believe it's the most ripe one...
however they are all rotting already... therefore I think ripening should be done before harvest... likely that after harvesting, the melons would juz gone rotten but cant ripen even letting them stored at room temperature...
btw juz as my experience, my mouth would be bleeding after eating cantaloupe melons... n these galia melons got the same effect... so orange-flesh melons are juz not my preference...
