these are some relatively small size mangoes... each weighted not to a pound... abt 300g...










 some are rot when still green ...
while some are less green more ripe with rots...
ripe ones got beautifully rainbow like skin with a pink blush...

 love that cute curvy sword like shape












 opening up looks quite fibrous
should be considered a hard fibre variety
but I'm ok wif it










 the flesh is a firm and fibrous one
taste is mildly sweet
a very refreshing aftertaste












 rot wif unknown reason...
affecting quite deep... reaching the seed...

with a bit unripe sour flesh still on seed
for this green skin piece

a beautiful rainbow colour skin...







 though wif some rot n half is  still green...










 feels like same soft to the touch...
yet knife in is much softer...
n under the skin are more smooth n golden flesh... 












flesh are  smoother juicier sweeter...
more like ripe to the perfect stage...
though still with some noticeable fibres... 











 same thin seed...
yet with more flesh coz this piece is fatter n thicker...














three pieces wif beautifully pink blush on skin...
though camera cant capture well..









 a piece that's mostly rot... started around the seed...
n got no signs on the skin...
juz a yellow skin piece that looks ok...
juz cant tell its that rot inside...
only realize when having a bite into...
wonder if that's developed during early stage of growth???











another piece that's deceiving... 
though the skin is yellow n slightly soft to the touch... expected to be a good ripe one... 
however... 
rot and got some strange tasting flesh... 
juz unknown reason n hard to judge its quality... 








notes...
this mango is with a very distinctive aroma even when unopened...
it smells like 芫荽coriander to me...
that might be unpleasant for some n drive them away..
however when biting into the flesh that aroma is gone
what's left is a mild sweet juicy flesh...
this distinctive herbal aroma maybe juz associated with the skin...

first have this green dotted spot one
it's still green but with some rot developing
feel a bit soft to touch
as its 芫荽anyway
cant judge by smell
think it's ok soft already














 knife down not so soft
opening up colour quite golden
the taste sweet n juicy already
texture ok smooth
yet the fibre is not that fine












 flesh towards centre is more pale
n more firm
yet love this stage of ripeness











 a small seed left...

 a bit green one
with black dots n a rot spot on skin...
ok soft to touch...












 judging by those 甜點 black dots
think its ripe n soft
yet knife down is firmer than expected...
opening its golden n juicy
n with tough fiber... 













 flesh inside sweet n juicy with a bit of tangy
flesh is softer than the 1st one... 










 same small seed left...

one side mostly green
while one side golden yellow with a rot n spots
noted the green side got a big bruise












 knife down quite firm
remove skin is same golden n fibrous like the other two










 flesh is sweet juicy n smooth
probably more soft n ripe than the first two
yet with the rot affecting got some black fibres... 












 same remaining a thin seed...














 some are rot when still green
while some can be free of defects til total ripe
it's more of a matter of handling













got one with obviously two tone flesh...
though still sweet enough n juicy...
the pale part flesh are firm n a bit tangy...
while the golden part are much sweet in contrast...
interesting...
wonder if uneven ripe means its natural?
maybe a good piece that is not artificially ripped?

 first try these India mangoes...
they got a strong aroma even when unopened...
therefore during storage til the the time consuming are like having a mango tree at pantry lol...

this batch of mangoes...
1, got some green skin but rot (the 2 on top) ... possibly immature n cant be ripen anyway...
2, got some all golden but wrinkled skin (bottom left 2)... likely unfresh coz stored too long thus moisture lost... juz overripe...
3, got some plumped n bright yellow skin... free of rots n bruises (bottom right)... looks perfect but relatively firmer to the touch...

juz got no idea abt which is at the best stage of  ripeness...
golden yellow ones looks perfect but not too soft to touch...
while seeing those wrinkled ones feels like unfresh already...
or, maybe golden yellow is overripe?
maybe with a little green is better?
gotta experiment on it...

looks harvested pre mature wif green skin...
likely picked too early n cant be ripen properly...
juz gone rot without being ripe...
maybe storage one of the issue?

smells a bit sour feels unpleasant...















 knife down strangely soft...
hard to remove skin...
the fragrant is unique...
a bit sweet like candy maybe...














 thin skin that is hard to remove...
tried both knife (left side) and biting (right)...
the flesh is exceptionally fine and creamy soft...
not with tough fibre strands noticed... 
















 the smooth flesh kinda remind me of papaya...
papaya textured n papaya flavoured...
n the flesh got a bit white colour towards the seed...
yet the whole one is sweet n juicy...
juz that the mushy texture is strange to me... 













not a thin seed...
got much creamy gooey flesh stuck on seed...

  a piece super rot n shrinking in size...
but still a firm body...
cut open to try... 













 knife down same soft...
also same with the thin skin...
hard to remove...
even with knife will be slimy...
would waste lots of flesh...
flesh colour more golden yellow...
texture same papaya like...


















 except the rot affected part at stem end...
the whole piece is the same papaya like...
strange to taste like papaya lol...
got very fine n juicy flesh..  















 same that the seed is not a small one...

 a plump one with less shrinking...
looks fresher...
but with stem end rot...
the tone a bit greenish... 












 knife down feels same soft...
skin is same thin...
needed to be removed by knife...
the flesh is like a firmer papaya... 
















 inner flesh is more mango like... finally...
with a hint of tangy...
paler yellow inner flesh is more smooth than orange outer flesh... 
not as my experience abt colour differences...














 another similar seed...
with much creamy flesh hard to finish it clean...















 two more mangoes...
one wrinkled one firm smooth skin...
wrinkled one likely more unfresh...
maybe a sign of overripe as well... 











 finally got a smooth skin one that the skin can be torn off...
it's the same sweet creamy n juicy...
think it's a better stage of ripeness...
btw juz love this more convenient way to peel skin...















all seeds left... 
India mango is likely a super creamy one with a unique spice hint... 








overall...
lol it's like a papaya thing
with a pungent flavour that s not the sweetness told by the aroma
dun quite prefer this one...

still some green hint on skin
but feel oily the skin...
with a strange green shade at the stem end...
got some holes on the skin...
very firm to the touch still...










same with that skin hard to remove...
same taste n texture...
coz greener... less mushy more firm...
again like a firm papaya texture lol...










same that inner flesh is paler... 
yet more creamy juicy...
the case juz not like most mangoes that came softer from the outside in...
think it's a good sign that its ripen on tree ?

knife down feels very firm...
yet still a soft n creamy flesh...
with skin easily peel...













again flesh towards skin is rather firm...
while inner flesh is sweet creamy n super juicy...












even more flesh stuck on seed...
this one with a few last bites tangy at the seed...
likely more unripe...
though less green hint on skin...

bet its ripe n very sweet...
firm to the touch still...
except the wrinkled point...
started to be oily already...












knife down a bit more smooth...
this one is an easy peel one...
same juicy soft flesh...
with that unique sweet n spicy taste...











though green on skin
but flesh on skin is softer than that on yellow skin...











similar seed with flesh stuck on....

















three mangoes with some special features on skin ..
the two on left got holes, or concave spot on skin...
the right one with a  burnt mark like being grilled...
juz wonder...
holes are formed naturally or by insect bites?
the burnt mark man made or by nature?















only to know...
the hole juz affect the shape of flesh n that's it...
no any rot like effect...
no change in colour or texture or taste of flesh... 















trivia...
a piece that is trashed...
looks no good on the outside...
think its diseased... decided not having it...








still curious thus cut open to take a look...
flesh inside looks n smells fine...
but juz didn't have this...














notes...
this second try on Indian mangoes
same noticeable spicy hint...
yet finally could relate it something...
think its toothpaste... wtf...
maybe that's the minty flavour associated...

overall think this pungent bright flavour  mango is not an easy going fruit...
especially for anyone new to mangoes...

personally dun prefer this variety...
the bold flavour is not of my preference...
though it's fine for me with this spiciness...
most importantly it's the hard-to-peel skin thing that I found very inconvenient...

juz love thai mangoes more...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- galia melon @20190404 three melons all got rotten spots...  sign of rot on the stem end...  and at the bottom... the blackened part has become soft and spongy...  opening look... out of my expectation... thought galia melon is with green flesh, as suggested on the web...   seeds removed... no rotting inside the flesh... that was not juicy when cut...   the seeds inside are sweet... but are scary to me coz my mouth would react badly, burning n bleeding... some kind of melon allergy...  spongy flesh towards the one end...  next the second melon...   the second one is paler... and the bottom end got serious moldy rot...  the spongy flesh towards one end...  cut out showing how deep it was infected... some of the flesh become translucent... n that rotting smell is obvious...  the rotten sp...
